A Stitcher's orts holder, and if you're not familiar with the term orts, it means "leftovers". All of those pesky small bits and pieces of thread that you tend to lay on top of a table or place in your lap until you get up and put them in the trash. Now you'll have a special little container just for that purpose sitting next to your stitching chair. The finished design measures 4 3/8 x 12 inches and wraps around a La Choy Chow Mein noodle can. The stitch guide also includes a recipe to use the noodles after you open the can. You could also use the finished piece to hold your stitching tools, like scissors and laying tools or use it on a desk to hold pens and pencils or other office paraphernalia. It's also a perfect size as a purse front for a clutch evening bag or insert into a pillow. The design incorporates various techniques and threads, which includes couching metal gilt braid. The background is stitched in an array of lace patterns worked in shades of white. Each student will select their own color combinations for the overlapping threads and laying tool to personalize their design.
